WALTERBORO :     Mrs. Julie Fishburne Strickland, wife of the late David Anderson "Andy" Strickland, passed away Monday morning, March 2, 2020 at her home in Walterboro surrounded by her loving family under hospice care.  She was 78.

Julie was born in Walterboro August 28, 1941 a daughter of the late L. Fripp Fishburne and Annie Ruth Cone Fishburne.  She graduated from Walterboro High School in 1959, and Columbia College in 1963, and for over fifty years she taught in the public and private schools of Colleton County.  She impacted the lives of countless children through her caring and devoted demeanor, and she was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro.

She is survived by her children David Fripp Strickland of Walterboro, and Ashley Strickland Crosby (Todd) of Cope, SC.  She has a sister, Alice Fishburne Joy of Walterboro, and five grandchildren:  Kenzy and Campbell Stanley, Ansley Marie and Jeffrey Todd Crosby, and Hannah Lauren Maxey.  There is a great granddaughter, Ella Marie Seale.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held Friday afternoon, March 7, 2020 at 2:00 at the Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends the day of the service from 12:00 until 1:30 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the Live Oak Cemetery or to the American Heart Association.
