Obituary

WALTERBORO:     Mr. Kenneth F. "Kenny" Bunton, husband of the late Mary Anne Smoak Bunton, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the Lexington Medical Extended Care Center, with his children by his side.  He was 70.

Kenny was born in Walterboro October 19, 1954 a son of Sylvia Laverne Padgett Bunton, and the late James Franklin Bunton.  He started dating Mary Anne Smoak, the "love of his life", in high school, and also started working for her family's business, The Press and Standard.  He was a devoted employee for many years, and after the newspaper was sold, he founded Press Printing with his late brother-in-law Carl McCall.  He built the company by serving the advertising needs of countless businesses throughout the Lowcountry of South Carolina for over fifteen years.  Later, he was a well-known employee of Palmetto Exterminators until his retirement.

Kenny was actively involved in the lives of his children throughout their youth.  He was considered to be the "neighborhood dad" as his home was always a welcome location for their friends.  He supported their involvement in the Colleton County High School "Band of Blue", and could be counted on to attend every event and often drive the truck.  Kenny loved anything related to cars, and he was an avid fan of classic rock.  However, he will be remembered best as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly.

Kenny is survived by his children Ken Bunton Jr. (Krystal), Joshua Wightman Bunton (Jackie) and Mallory Anne Bunton Anderson (Jeffrey).  He has five grandchildren:  Autumn, John Franklin, and Lilly Bunton, and Sullivan and Maryanne Anderson.  Kenny leaves behind his mother Sylvia Padgett Morris (Ed), his two brothers, James M. "Terry" Bunton (Gwen), and Marc Bunton, his mother-in-law Mildred Smoak, his sister-in-law Katrena McCall (and her daughter Allyson), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a time of visitation and remembrance on Tuesday evening, July 8, 2025 from 5:00 until 7:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
