Obituary

Mr. Eugene Lea Salter passed away peacefully at home on Friday January 27th. He was 88 years old.

Mr. Salter was born April 8th, 1935, a son of the late Henry and Evelyn Salter. He graduated from Clemson University in 1956. He was married to his wife, Ann Salter, for 58 years before her passing in 2015. He was a proud veteran and served in the US Army Corps of Engineers. Following his military service, he went on to work at J.E. Sirrine Company and Fiske Carter Construction before becoming president and CEO of Christman and Parsons, Inc in Spartanburg, South Carolina and retiring after 22 years there. He was a supporter of both Clemson University and Columbia College. He attended Inman Presbyterian Church where he played a vital role in their CAR ministry, taught Sunday School and was an active member. He had a passion for flying airplanes, talking on ham radios, collecting coins, sports cars and reading good books about the word of Christ.

Survivors include children, Susanne Cox and husband Chris of Greer and David Salter and wife Tammy of Edisto Beach. Seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 3pm Sunday March 10th at Inman Presbyterian Church in Inman, South Carolina with Rev. Beth Hoskins, officiating. A graveside burial service will be held at Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro, directed by Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home on Saturday February 17th at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to CAR Ministry, Inman Presbyterian Church, P. O. Box 196, Inman, SC 29349 or to one's favorite charity.
