Lillian Beatrice Burbage Cone, 94, of Charleston, SC, was called home by her Lord on August 27th, 2020 in the kitchen of her beloved home of 58 years.

She was born to the late William Ernest Burbage and Beatrice Prue Peirce, February 10, 1926, in Trenton, New Jersey. Although she was born in New Jersey and educated in Northern schools, she was a woman with southern roots and heritage, calling the "Red Oak" community in Cottageville, SC home. After graduating from a business school in Trenton, she worked alongside many other women at Westinghouse in support of the war effort.

She was married to the late David Cone in May 1945 and together they shared their married years in Cottageville, Trenton, Summerville, SC, and Charleston. She was the oldest of three siblings: the late William Ernest Burbage, Jr. and Charles Rogers Burbage. She is survived by her two children: Lillian Lessie Cone Bryce (Spouse: Tom Bryce), of Charleston, and Dr. David Charles Lindsie Cone (Spouse: Sharon Whitehurst), of Lexington, SC. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Dr. Jordan Lindsie Cone (Spouse: Dr. Sean Grumbach) of Cayce, SC, and Lauren Lessie Anne Cone, of West Columbia, SC.

Lillian loved her flower gardens, hand quilting and reading. She always said that her prayer was to be God's flower gardener in
Heaven. She made a personal hand quilt for all her children and grandchildren. And at last count she had read 62 books just within the last several years!

She loved spending time with her devoted granddaughters, and playing with her beloved Papillion, Charlie Brown. Her passion, as shared with her husband, David, was their personal relationship with their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Both were committed to serving in their home church in Charleston and they made it a priority to establish Christ as the head of the family and to raise their children to follow in the faith. Every day found Lillian spending hours reading her Bible and praying. Known to all as a "prayer warrior" with a heart for ministry, all were drawn to Lillian because of her joy, her faith, her strength, her resilience, her sacrificial devotion to family, her love of her friends, her giving heart, and her caring spirit.

Her favorite ministries to support financially included International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, the American Bible Society, The Salvation Army, the American Cancer Society, Southwest Indian Relief Council, and PT Boats, Inc (since her husband, David, served in the Pacific in WWII as a U.S. Navy Carpenters Mate in a PT Boat Squadron). She had a heart for supporting Israel, distributing God's Word, helping hurting people, advancing cancer research and cancer care, ministry to our Native Americans, and service to our WW II veterans.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 31st at the Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home in Walterboro,
SC, followed by a burial service at Ackerman Cemetery on Red Oak Road in Cottageville, SC.
