CHEROKEE PLANTATION: Mrs. Jenny Lucile Hilton Garvin, wife of the late James William Garvin, passed away peacefully from natural causes Wednesday evening at the St. George Healthcare Center at the age of 99.

Mrs. Garvin was born in Charleston July 9, 1916 a daughter of the late Thomas A. Hilton and Ruby Godfrey Hilton. She was a retired saleslady with Belk's Department Store and was a member of Black Creek Baptist Church, where she was formerly involved with the Adult II Sunday School Class and the Busy Bee Missionary Circle.


She is survived by her children: James William Garvin Jr. of Lodge, Thomas Wilburn Garvin of Hendersonville, Dora Elizabeth Lyons of Walterboro, Barbara Jean Hiott of Walterboro, and Dorothy Joan Sanders of Seabrook. There are eleven grandchildren.


Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
