WALTERBORO :     Mrs. Lucy Bunton Blocker, wife of the late Homer "Hugh" Blocker, passed away Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2021 at her home in Walterboro, under hospice care, surrounded by her loving family.  She was 84.

Mrs. Blocker was born in Ritter April 14, 1936 a daughter of the late Ansel and Ruby Ramsey Bunton.  A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she spent her life as a homemaker…always taking care of the needs of her family.  She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church where she was particularly active in the WHFMS and was on the hospitality committee.  Mrs. Blocker was an avid gardener, birdwatcher, and was an excellent southern cook who was known for her delicious okra soup.  Her family lovingly referred to her as "Sarge".

She is survived by her son Tommie Blocker (Debbie) and by her daughter Linda Bishop (Adrian). She has a sister Betty Fischer (Fred) and there are seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ansel and Emory Bunton.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Amedysis Hospice, and nurses April, Heather, Nicole and Leslie for the excellent care they provided to Mrs. Blocker.  They would also like to thank her devoted sitters Connie and ChaCha for always being there and supporting the family.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon, February 9, 2021 at 2:00 at Grace Advent Christian Church, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 in the church Sanctuary.  Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to either the youth group or the WHFMS at Grace Advent Christian Church.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
