Margaret Augusta von Husen Lytchfield, 100, died on Monday August 3, 2015.

Margaret was born on November 18, 1914, to Nicholas John and Mathilda Dueffe von Husen in Yonkers, New York. Her B.S. Degree was awarded by Capital University, Columbus, Ohio, in 1935. An educator, Margaret retired from Walterboro High School and then taught at Trident Technical College in Charleston. In 1979 she moved to Camden where she volunteered as a Laubach Literacy Instructor. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, B&PW, as well as St Timothy's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in Circle, Bible Study and Wednesday Lunch Bunch. Besides her family, she loved most in life traveling, sitting on her porch with the birds and flowers, the Atlanta Braves and the USC Gamecocks, and often attributed her longevity to chocolate, beer, and comfortable shoes.


Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Sam Webber Lytchfield and a sister, Dorothy Watt.

She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Roberts (Jimmy) of Tyrone, Georgia, and Linda Shaylor (John) of Camden, SC; three grandchildren and four great- grandchildren: Cassie and Tallulah, Ellen (Shelley) and Gus and Jay (Sara) and Jack and Maggie. The family would like to thank Dr. Carl Kearse for his compassion, concern, and support. Also, thanks to the nurses and staff on third floor, KershawHealth and the nurses at Home Health for their kindness and care.

Memorials may be made to the Fine Arts Center of Kershaw County or St. Timothy's Lutheran Church of Camden.


There will be a private family burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Walterboro.
