WALTERBORO: Mrs. Mary "Markie" White, wife of George White, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2019, at her residence in Walterboro. She was 75.
Mrs. White was born April 26, 1943 in Kayesville, UT, a daughter of the late Lee Lavender and Mary Moore Lavender. She met her husband while he was stationed in Utah in the Air Force…they were married March 6, 1959…and at the time of her passing had just celebrated sixty wonderful years as husband and wife. Markie had worked at the Smoaks Manufacturing Company in the past, and was also a former bookkeeper and desk clerk for the Holiday Inn in Walterboro. She was a member of the Hendersonville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved spending time traveling, reading and scrapbooking.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Cindy Keehner (Joe) of Walterboro, and Johnny White (Melissa) of St. Marys, GA. There are three grandchildren: Becky Clore, Johnathan White and Joshua White. She leaves behind two great-grandchildren, James Brown and Savannah Clore.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday morning, April 18, 2019 at 11:00 at the Black Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
