Obituary

WALTERBORO:     Michael Snead Drew, husband of Tammie Sweatman Drew, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, July 28, 2026 at his home while under hospice care.  He was 72.

Michael was born in Colleton County December 28, 1953 a son of the late Thomas Vernon Drew, and the late Mildred Snead Drew.  He was a retired employee of Coastal Electric where he began his career as a lineman, and retired as a crew chief.  Michael was well-known, and loved, throughout the community for his outgoing personality and his ability to cut up with just about anyone.  His laugh was infectious, and he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, especially following their athletic endeavors.  Michael loved riding his golf cart around the neighborhood with his beloved companion Drake, and spending time with his friends at the Walterboro Elks Lodge #1988…of which he was a member.  He was also member of Salem United Methodist Church in Hendersonville.

In addition to his beloved wife of 47 years, Michael is survived by his children Nicholas "Nick" Drew (Valerie), and Amanda Drew Huskey (Rob).  He leaves behind his six grandchildren:  Wyatt Drew (Rachel), Emma Drew, Millie Drew, Kaylynne Huskey (Edward), Chance Sullivan (Annie Gray) and Peyton Sullivan.  Michael is survived by his siblings Thomas Vernon Drew Jr. (Leslie), Paula Drew (David), and Susan Irvin (Calvin), as well as by his brother-in-law Jeff Sweatman (Renee), and his sister-in-law Janet S. Pendarvis (Chevis).  He also leaves behind his former daughter-in-law Bramlett Drew, a special cousin that he considered a brother, Jesse Drew, and  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.  In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Avery Bramlett Drew.

The family will receive friends during a celebration of Michael's life Saturday evening, August 1. 2026 from 5:00 until 8:00 at the Walterboro Elks Lodge.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
