RUFFIN: Mrs. Mildred "Billie" Waltz Ulmer, wife of Keith L. Ulmer, passed away after a brief illness Saturday night at MUSC surrounded by her loving family. She was 75.

"Billie," as she was known to her family and close friends, was born in Williams, SC on March 4, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Willie Clinton Waltz and Mary Smith Waltz. She was a retired teacher and school administrator with the Colleton County School District for thirty-five years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church of the Ruffin Charge where she taught Sunday School and was church treasurer for sixteen years. "Billie" enjoyed gardening, caring for her pets, spending time at Edisto Beach, and doting on her many great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband of nearly fifty-four years, she is survived by her daughter, Janice M. (Jan) Ulmer of Ruffin. She also leaves behind her siblings: Frances W. Baggett (Robert) of Walterboro, Margaret W. Harrison (Richard) of Ruffin, Freddie C. "Pete" Waltz (Karen) of Clemson, and Roger D. Waltz (Sonya) of the Little Swamp Community near Smoaks. She is also survived by twenty-six nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 10:00 AM in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Hudson Fellowship Hall adjacent to the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epworth Children's Home, the Colleton County SPCA, or the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (c/o Mrs. Carolyn Breland, 573 Spencer Dr., Ruffin, SC 29475).
