Margaret "Patti" Johnson, age 82, entered into eternal rest the evening of Friday, November 22, 2024. Though frequently introduced over the years as "the pastor's wife" or "Angel's mom," she was known affectionately as "Mimi" to many. Patti was the living embodiment of a Proverbs 31 woman. Her lifetime of self-sacrifice for her family and friends will long be remembered by those who loved her and were recipients of her generosity.

Patti was born February 26, 1942, in Allendale, South Carolina, to Sheriff James Ewing and Margaret Meyer Smith. She moved to Ruffin, South Carolina, in 1977 when she married Rev. Bob Johnson, Jr. and worked for Colleton County School Food Service for many years before her retirement. She was active in numerous church ministries over the years. She enjoyed sewing and crafting and was a frequent vendor at craft shows and the Colleton Museum's Farmers Market.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her siblings Nicki Clifton, Ted Smith, Sonny Smith, and Billy Smith. She is survived by her sister Mary Frances Smith, her daughter Dr. Angel Johnson Tucker (DJ), her granddaughter Ashlynn Johnson Fagan (Tyler), sons Bill Johnson (Laura) and Rhic Johnson, daughter Dana Holmes (Polly), nine other grandchildren, and her beloved beagle, Carter.

The family is eternally grateful for the daily care provided by Ms. Carol Stephens and the medical services and comfort provided by Edisto Home Care and Hospice.

In honor of Bob and Patti's dedication to helping others, a scholarship was founded in their name at Charleston Southern University, a school very dear to the Johnson family, for students from Colleton and Allendale Counties. In lieu of cut flower arrangements, friends and family are encouraged to send donations to the scholarship. There will be a time for visitation and remembrance for friends and family to gather and share memories of Patti from 10 am to 12 pm Monday, November 25, 2024 at Parker-Roden Funeral Home. The committal service will be later that afternoon in Allendale at Swallow Savannah Cemetery. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro, is in charge of arrangements.
