WALTERBORO:     Paul A. Rickenbacker passed away Sunday morning, August 24, 2025 at his home in Walterboro, under hospice care, at the age of 79.

Paul was born in Colleton County April 1, 1946 a son of the late Lewis Lowe Rickenbaker and the late Edna Gertrude Lott Rickenbaker.  He attended Carlisle Military Academy as a young boy, and was a hard-working man who retired from the SCE&G plant at Canadys.  Paul enjoyed attending Rodeos in years past, but most of his days recently were spent watching TV and eating good food.  He was an avid fan of all South Carolina Gamecock sports, and attended games when his health allowed it.

He is survived by his cousin Herman Hoffman (Joy) and by their children Charlie and Michelle.  He also leaves behind his devoted caregivers of eleven years, Carolyn Thompson and Ladana Scott, as well as extended family.

Graveside services will be held Saturday morning, September 6, 2025 at 10:00 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
