Mrs. Paula Willis "Polly" LaDuke, wife of Thomas "Tom" LaDuke, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023. She was 78.
Paula, or "Grandma Polly" as she was known by her grandchildren, was born in Norman, Oklahoma December 15, 1944. As a child she moved quite often, being the daughter of a Navy man, but eventually settled in North Charleston…the place she always called her home. She married Thomas LaDuke on December 29, 1990, and at the time of her passing, they had been married for thirty-two wonderful years.
Polly was a sweet, kind-hearted, loving, generous and giving person. She always wanted to help those in need regardless of who they were. She worked in homeless shelters, and was a lover of all animals…especially her cats. She loved spending time with her family, and her sole caregiver was her husband Tom. He took great care of her, and gave meaning to the vow "In sickness and in health…until death do us part". Her time was done on Earth, so God called her home, and she is now the most precious angel in Heaven.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Janice Singletary Moore (Danny) and by her step-son, Corbett LaDuke (Jennifer). She leaves behind her grandchildren Ashley Moore Baxley (Ricky), Chad Moore (Taylor), Wesley LaDuke and Sydney LaDuke. There are three great-grandchildren, Drake, Emerson and Dawson. Polly is also survived by her brother Joseph Willis, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but will be announced by Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
