WALTERBORO: Mrs. Phoebe Bennett Hiott, 94, entered into eternal rest Saturday, March 5, 2016 at the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. Phoebe was born on October 13, 1921 in Lodge, SC to the late Eddie Bennett and Edith Copeland Bennett. She was a member of Zion Baptist Church, the American Legion, the Young at Heart, the Eagle Spirits, and the Senior Friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra H. Gillispie (Bruce) of Walterboro, and by her step-sons Steve Hiott (Karen) and Ricky Hiott of Walterboro. There are seven grandchildren: Jamie Ritter (Kellie), Amy Shaw, Bert Duffie (Christy), Andrea Duffie, Seth Hiott, Reagan Hiott, and Kristy Brown. There are numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband William E. Hiott Sr., by her second husband Henry R. Hiott Sr., by her sons William E. Hiott Jr. and Eddie L. Hiott, by her daughter Linda G. Hiott, and by her grandson William E. Hiott III.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Darla Beach for her loving care of Mrs. Hiott and to Agape Hospice for their support during her illness.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Sandy Dam Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral home of Walterboro, and in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Zion Baptist Church.
