WALTERBORO:     Mrs. Rita Crosby Bennett, wife of the late Olin Bennett, passed away Monday evening, January 12, 2026 in Walterboro at the age of 86.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Colleton County October 18, 1939 a daughter of the late Cecil and Daisy Mae Herndon Crosby.  She was a beloved teacher's assistant in the public school system for many years.  Mrs. Bennett was a member of the Walterboro Church of God, and she loved working in her yard and taking care of her flowers.  She enjoyed yard sales, and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her sons Timothy Olin Bennett, and Mickey Bennett (Susan).  She has five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind her brother Jimmy Crosby and her sister Delores Wells.  In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Allen Bennett, by her brother Donald Crosby, and by her sister June Chaltraw.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday afternoon, January 14, 2026 at 12:00 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
