WALTERBORO: Robert Lawrence Bowers, husband of Barbara Herndon Bowers, died Saturday at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 59.
Mr. Bowers was born December 14, 1957 in Lancaster, SC, a son of the late John Anderson Bowers and Mary Williams Bowers. He was a devoted employee of Paper Converters, was a hard worker and was a talented handyman. He was loved by his family dearly, and was a friend to all.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Frank Murdaugh, Linda Murdaugh, and Tammy Rentz (Jarrett) all of Walterboro. He has a brother, John Wayne Bowers, and two sisters, Sara Hancock and Mildred Faulkenberry, all of Lancaster. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Tracey Maness (Chuck), Candace Smoak (Jason), Josh Craven (Sarah), Ethan Robertson, Chessa Crosby and Sofi Murdaugh. He has six great-grandchildren: Emma, MacKenzie, Wyatt, Elana, Addie and Braylon. He was preceded in death by his brothers Charles and Donnie Bowers, and by a sister, Brenda Sue Walls.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
