Obituary

AMERICUS, GA :     Mr. Robert Witsell "Bubba" Smoak, formerly of Walterboro, passed away at his home Friday November 2, 2018 in Americus, GA.  He was 73.

Mr. Smoak was born March 28, 1945, and was a son of the late Isaiah "Buck" Hudson and Pearl Lane Hudson.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and served honorably during the Vietnam War.  While in the military Mr. Smoak specialized in training dogs for service with troops in various capacities such as bomb detection and police work.  After his time in the military, his skills with canines lead him to become a recognized trainer of hunting dogs for practical use as well as in field trials.  Mr. Smoak was a true Christian man, was always studying the word of God, and possessed a keen interest in the Greek language.

He is survived by two sons, Bryan and Matthew Smoak, and by their mother Paulette Smoak.  He has a sister, Patricia "Patsy" Garvin (Robert) and a brother, Wilbur Smoak.  There are two granddaughters, Ava and Keira Smoak, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon, November 11, 2018 at 3:00 at the Larisey Cemetery in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
