Obituary

WALTERBORO: Robert Cornelius "RC" Thompson Jr., husband of Temperance Youmans "Temp" Thompson, died peacefully at his home on Jan 22, 2017 after an extended illness.

"RC" was born Sept 30, 1933 in Pooler, GA, a son of the late Robert C Thompson Sr and Eddie Dean Fortner Thompson. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was self-employed business man. He and his father ran the T & M Handle Company in Walterboro and he was also employed by Carmichael Oil, King Petroleum in Walterboro and Poplar Creek Landing in Elloree, SC. He was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church.

"RC" will be remembered for being a wonderful husband to his wife of 62 years, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a little league baseball coach, Boy Scout Master and past President of the Warhawk Booster Club at Calhoun Academy. He was instrumental in the formation of the Colleton County Volunteer Fire Department.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Barbara Franks of Summerville, his sons: Robert Edward "Eddie" (Cindy) Thompson of Moncks Corner, Charles Kenneth "Sam" (Carolyn) Thompson of Laurinburg, NC. He is also survived by grandchildren Amber, Will, Chris, Whitney, Anna, Haley and Taylor and his great grandchildren Eden, Damien, Axel, CharLee, Wesley and Makayela and River.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Evelyn Thompson and Doris "Dot" Craven.

A funeral service will be held at Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro Thursday afternoon at 2:00, with a graveside service immediately following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Advent Christian Church or Agape Hospice of the Lowcountry in Walterboro.
