SUMMERVILLE :   Mr. Ronald Tharin "Ron" Nolte Sr. passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, June 2, 2022 at the Veterans Victory House in Walterboro.  He was 83.

Ron was born in Charleston, SC September 13, 1938 a son of the late Harold W. "Dutch" Nolte Sr. and Julia Mae Tharin Nolte.  After graduating from Clemson University in 1961 with a double major in both Electrical Engineering and Mathematics, he was immediately commissioned into the United States Marine Corps.  He served his country faithfully on active duty from 1961-1964, and had attained the rank of Captain when he was honorably discharged after serving in the Marine Reserves from 1965-1969.  Ron became employed at Santee Cooper, and in 1971 he received his Professional Engineering License.  After a long and devoted career with the electric company, he eventually retired as its Vice-President.

Ron was proud of his Alma Mater, and was a loyal member of both IPTAY and the Clemson Alumni Association.  Throughout his professional life, he was involved with many civic organizations including:  the Trident Chamber of Commerce, the Berkeley Sertoma Club (charter member), the Charleston Rifle Club (Board of Directors), the Kings Grant Country Club, the Miler Country Club, and the Coastal Seniors Golf Association. Ron enjoyed playing golf and bowling, and was an avid fan of both the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald Tharin Nolte Jr. (Kimberly) of Pinopolis, and James William Gustin "Jim" Nolte (Lori) of Edisto Beach.  He leaves behind four grandchildren:  Kalen Reed (Austin) of Columbia, Tharin Nolte of Eutawville, Marilyn Nolte of Nashville, and Ella Nolte of Edisto Beach.  He is also survived by two great-grandchildren Branson and Ellison Reed of Columbia, by his sister Julie Nolte Strawn, and by his sister-in-law Caroline Nolte.  There are numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-four years Marilyn Gustin Nolte, by his brothers Harold W. Nolte Jr. And H. Venning Nolte, and by his companion Sandra "Sandy" Smith.

Mr. Nolte will be interred with military honors in a private service, by his late wife Marilyn, at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Charleston.  The family will host a public celebration of Ron's life at Fat Jack's Restaurant in Walterboro on Sunday, June 26, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00PM.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Ronald McDonald House.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street is in charge of arrangements.
