ROUND O: Ruby Calvert Dodd, a retired postmaster and the widow of Joseph Keely Dodd Jr., died Sunday evening at the St. Francis Hospital in Charleston. She was 92.

Mrs. Dodd was born April 19, 1924 in Landrum, SC, a daughter of the late William S. Calvert and Melissa Greenway Calvert. She was a past-president and editor of the State Chapter of the National Association of Postmasters. Mrs. Dodd was the first female member of the Colleton County School Board, and was a former member of both the Civitans and the Colleton County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs. She was an active member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro and was the founding queen mother of the Red Hat Socialites, Chapter #18818.

She is survived by two daughters, Martha Melissa Dodd and Rachel Calvert Dodd, both or Round O. There are three sisters: Lathie Gaines of Inman, Jeanette Pierce of Landrum, and Rachel Drake of Greenville. She has two grandchildren, Keeley Dodd Farris and Joseph Dodd Farris, as well as a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday in the Bethel United Methodist Church, with burial following in the Fox Cemetery near Round O. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC.
