WALTERBORO :     Mrs. Ruth H. Crosby, wife of Alton R. Crosby, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Trident Medical Center in Charleston.  She was 83.

Mrs. Crosby was born in Colleton County July 28, 1936 a daughter of the late Earl Lane and Vertie Mae "Bill" Nettles Lane.   She graduated from Hendersonville High School in 1954, and worked as a teacher's aide in the public schools of Colleton County until her retirement.    Mrs. Crosby loved people, and enjoyed socializing with her friends at the breakfast club each morning at the Hardees in Walterboro.  She was an active member of Great Swamp Baptist Church, and was a talented seamstress.

In addition to her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her sons Bart Crosby (Rhonda) and Barry Crosby (Cathy) of Walterboro.  She has six grandchildren:  Nicholas (Nicole), Jason (Brittany), Cory, Travis (Christina), and Dillon Crosby (Judy Ann) and Bonnie Raines.  There are seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her brother Jim Lane.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, February 4, 2020 at 10:00 at the Great Swamp Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.
