WALTERBORO: Sadie Herndon Smith, wife of the late William Smith, passed away Monday at her home surrounded by her loving family under the care of hospice. She was 65.

Sadie was born in Colleton County September 26, 1950 a daughter of the late Norman and Herlene Gooding Herndon. She was a former employee with both Dayco and N and N Ball and Roller Company. She loved spending time outdoors gardening and enjoying time with her family.


She is survived by her children: Jimmy Hickman Jr. of Florida, Billy Hickman of Jacksonboro, and Sherry Garvin (Andy) and Jody Brim (Ricky) of Walterboro. She has a step-son, Bo Smith (Becky) of Sylvania, GA and five siblings: Randall Herndon of Mashawville, Lonnie Herndon of Ritter, Lloyd Herndon of Round O, Barbara Bowers of Walterboro, and Ethel Babbit of Hampton. There are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jimmy Hickman, and by a brother, Ralph Herndon.

A visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
