Saint Matthews

Obituary

St. Matthews: Stanley Addison Crosby, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on March 24, 2018 at MUSC.  He was 69.

Stanley was born and raised in Walterboro, SC, and he grew up as a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.  He was a loving and caring son of the late Herbert Ottler "Bing" Crosby and Madge Addison Crosby.

Stanley is survived by his brother, Herbert O. "Butch" Crosby Jr. (Cathy), and sisters, Celeste E. Crosby, and Olivia C. "Libby" Brissie (Jim), all whom he loved so much.  He had many nieces, nephews and cousins and he always wanted to know how they were doing and was proud of them.

After graduating from Walterboro High School, he served in the U. S. Air Force in Vietnam at the same time as his brother Butch.  After returning from the war he attended Montreat College.  Stanley was a gifted wood worker and had done beautiful work, especially in his parent's home and in homes around Hilton Head.  He had a wonderful gift of wood carving and his family has been blessed with two of his beautiful carvings of Jesus.

Hunting with his father, brother, and nephew brought him many treasured experiences and he enjoyed shrimping, and sharing his catch.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
