GREENPOND :     Tammy Langdale Long, wife of David J. Long, passed away Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro.  She was 58.

Tammy was born in North Carolina August 22, 1963, and was a daughter of the late Nancy Evans Langdale and Edward Donald Langdale. She graduated from the nursing program at Orangeburg Technical College, and later received her BSN from the Medical University of South Carolina. Tammy worked in Labor and Delivery her entire nursing career, assisting in the birth of countless babies from Colleton County and surrounding areas. She was the former Director of the Labor and Delivery Department at Colleton Medical Center, and she possessed an outgoing personality and a beautiful smile that brought joy to her patients, friends and family. Tammy loved traveling anywhere tropical, and relished time spent on the beach and in the warmth of the sun.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will truly be missed.

In addition to her husband of thirty-two years, she is survived by two daughters, Kelly L. Banks (Michael) and Lauren Long.  She has four grandchildren she dearly loved:  Kayla, Justin, and River Banks and Autumn Jennings.  She leaves behind two brothers, Gary (Lisa) and Brent (Christi) Langdale, and well as her mother and father-in-law Gene and Kathie Whetsell.  There is a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins aunts, uncles and extended family that will cherish her memory.

A memorial service will be held Thursday evening, April 14, 2022 at 6:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends after the service until 8:00, and in lieu of flowers, they request that memorials be made in Tammy's memory to the charity of one's choice.
