WALTERBORO: Theodore D. "Ted" Kinard, husband of Becky Turner Kinard, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 87.
Ted was born in Colleton County January 21, 1936 a son of the late Ersie D. Kinard and Essie Polk Kinard. After graduation from Walterboro High School, he joined the United States Air Force, and served his country faithfully for twenty years, eventually retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He served during the Vietnam War, and was part of the 31st Tactical Wing. After leaving the Air Force, he attended The Citadel, and received his Masters of Business Administration.
Ted was active in his community, and was a former Colleton County Councilman. He was a member of The Lions Club, the American Legion, and the Sons of the American Revolution, Maj. General William Moultrie Chapter. Ted was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Alicia Kinard of Folly Beach, and Libbie K. Myers (Pat) of Bowman. He has one sister, Joyce Kinard Breland of Walterboro, and a host of nieces nephews and extended family.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Walterboro. Committal services, with full military honors provided by the United States Air Force, will immedaitely follow at the Adnah United Methodist Church Cemetery in Islandton. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
