WALTERBORO: Thomas Duane House, husband of Bridget Zawacky House, died Monday March 7, 2016 at the Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. He was 76.

Mr. House was born in Magnolia, Ohio January 22, 1940 a son of the late William Earl House and Sarah Thomas House. He was a veteran of both the United States Army and the United States Navy, and served two tours in Vietnam during his service in the Navy. Mr. House was a long distance steel hauler for over forty years, and was also a driver for the Stark County Ohio Veterans Service Commission for sixteen years prior to moving to South Carolina. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and NASCAR racing. He loved old cars, especially his Hudson, and had been actively involved in the American Legion, the Army-Navy Club of Canton Ohio, the Disabled American Veterans, and he had held offices in the Western Ohio Chapter of Vietnam Veterans. He possessed a wonderful sense of humor, was friendly with anyone he met, and truly lived an incredible life, full of great experiences.


In addition to his wife of thirty-five years, he is survived by his children: Christi A. Ferguson of Cottageville, Thomas D. House II of Canton, OH, William Earl House II of Cottageville, Damien S. House of Walterboro, and Duane X. House of Walterboro. He has one sister, Shirley Getz of Florida, and nine grandchildren: Stephanie, Jessica, Chelsea, Abigail, Justin, Joshua, Sarah, Billy, and Danielle. He has three great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Bryan, and Jacob. Mr. House was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie McArdele, and there are a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services, with military honors, will be held Thursday afternoon, March 24, 2016 at 2:00 at the Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation Wednesday evening, March 23, 2016 from 6-8 PM at the Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home in Walterboro.
