WALTERBORO:     Mr. Thomas C. Moorer Sr. passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023 at the Trident Medical Center in Charleston after a brief illness, surrounded by family and loved ones.  He was 78.

Thomas was born in Charleston January 22, 1945 a son of the late William Bachman Moorer and Lois Harbeson Moorer.  He graduated from Rivers High School in 1963, and attended The Citadel before becoming employed at the Charleston Naval Shipyard until his retirement.  Thomas was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Pythagorean Masonic Lodge.  He enjoyed woodworking, making hot mustard to share with family and friends, crafting hiking sticks, playing chess, and spending time with his family…especially outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Melinda Kincaid Moorer, by his son Thomas Moorer Jr. (Dana Cone), by his daughter Natalie Moorer Young (Fraser), by his grandson Daniel Moorer (Parker), by his brother William Moorer (Andy), and by his faithful companion Dingo.

A memorial service will be held Sunday afternoon, June 25, 2023 at 2:00 in the chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.  He family will receive friends beginning at 1:00.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Double Springs United Methodist Church, P.O.B. 112, Mountain Rest, SC 29664, or to the charity of one's choice.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
