WALTERBORO: Mrs. Tina W. Mitchell, wife of Richard "Dickie" Mitchell, passed away early Thursday morning, June 25, 2020 at the Summerville Community Hospice House. She was 63.
Tina was born in Adel, GA March 18, 1957 a daughter of Burma Jean Ellis Wright and the late Elwood Wright. She spent her early years in Statesboro and Monroe Georgia, and later graduated from Tallulah High School, where she was an outstanding basketball player. She attended Georgia Southern University, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. Tina loved children, and she spent time as a kindergarten teacher before founding the aftercare program at Colleton Preparatory Academy. After eight years, she started Forest Hills Daycare, and operated it until her retirement. She was a former member of St. Jude's Episcopal Church, and was currently a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Tina was "free spirited" and she definitely "marched to the beat of her own drum". She was a member of the Cotillion in Walterboro, and loved spending time at Edisto Beach with her family.
In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by her sons Mitch Mitchell (Ashley) and Jordan Mitchell, all of West Ashley. She has a sister, Phoebe Adcock (Randy) of Lincolnton, GA.
