Obituary

WALTERBORO :     Mr. Thomas J. "Tom" McDaniel Jr. passed away Thursday evening, May 28, 2020 at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center in Charleston.  He was 74.

Tom was born in Walterboro on November 15, 1945 a son of the late Thomas Jefferson McDaniel and Helen Gray Tolar McDaniel.  He served his country faithfully in the South Carolina Army National Guard.  Tom was the former owner and operator of his family business, the Walterboro Coca-Cola Bottling Plant, and was active in his community over the years as a member of the Historical Society, the Tree Preservation Committee, and was the Chairman of the Live Oak Cemetery Committee.  He possessed a wonderful and outgoing personality, loved to shoot pool and fish, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at Edisto.  He was an active member of the Elk's Lodge. Tom was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children Thomas McDaniel of Okatie, and Morgan M. Scott (Patrick) of Columbia.  He has a sister, Ellen M. Edgmon of North Carolina, and three grandchildren:  Chase McDaniel and Anna Francis Scott and Wilson Scott.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday morning, June 3, 2020 at 11:00 at the Live Oak Cemetery in Walterboro.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service.  Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul Street in Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
