WALTERBORO: Mrs. Virginia Langdale Proctor, wife of Johnnie Milton Proctor, passed away Wednesday evening at Roper Hospital in Charleston. She was 87.

Mrs. Proctor was born July 18, 1928 a daughter of the late Thomas W. Langdale and Rebecca Smith Langdale. She retired after twenty five years as a sales associate at the Belk Department Store in Walterboro, and was an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a WMU Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She was actively involved in ministering to homebound members of her community, and was a devoted wife and mother.

In addition to her husband of sixty-seven years, she is survived by a daughter, Pamela Proctor Boatwright, and her husband George Olin Boatwright, of North Augusta. In 2012 she was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine Proctor Callahan.


Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11:00 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with burial following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6-8 PM at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Fund. Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
