ROUND O: Mr. William Bernard Givens, Sr. passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park Florida. He was 83.
Mr. Givens was born in Newark, N. J. on November 2, 1931 a son of the late Florence Wilson Givens and Alfred Givens. Bill lived his entire adult life in Waterville, Maine and worked for the Keyes Fibre Company (Huhtamaki) for thirty-four years before retiring to the Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park Florida. He proudly served with the United States Army during the Korean War from 1951-1954.
William Givens was a believer in Jesus Christ and was a faithful worker at Blessed Hope Advent Christian Church in Waterville, Maine and The Village Church in Dowling Park Florida. His favorite things in life were bowling, fishing and boating in the lakes of the Belgrade Lake Region of Maine, and especially spending time with his family.
His beloved wife of sixty-four years, Marilyn Gould Givens and his sons, William Bernard Givens, Jr., and Stephen Edward Givens, both of Waterville, Maine, predeceased him in death. He is survived his daughters, Gail Givens Shieve of Waterville, Maine and Lydia Givens Hiott (Cleveland C. Hiott, lll) of Round O, South Carolina. Bill has three grandsons that he adored: Aren Givens of Washington State, John B. Hiott and Cleveland C. Hiott lV (Cole) also of Round O.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, July 8th at 10:00 am at the Live Oak Cemetery Walterboro, South Carolina under the direction of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.
