Obituary

WALTERBORO: Mrs. Wilma DeWitt Ritter, wife of the late Barney William Ritter, died Wednesday evening at her residence.  She was 96.

Mrs. Ritter was born January 15, 1922 in Colleton County, a daughter of the late James H. DeWitt and Eula Bunton DeWitt.  She was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was instrumental in the founding  of the church library.  She was extremely devoted to her family, and she had a passion for working in her yard and growing a beautiful garden.

She is survived by two daughters, Kitty Jo Ritter Manges (Marc) of Columbia, and Bonnie Ritter Ramsey (Roger) of Walterboro.  She has one brother, Talbert DeWitt of Sumner, GA, and one sister Marjorie "Margie" Winn of Ormond Beach, FL.  There are four grandchildren:  Brian Manges (Stella), Shawn Manges (Robbin), Ashley Ramsey Simmons (David) and Lysa Ramsey Hester (Seth).  There are six great-grandchildren: Christopher Manges (Tiffany), Shane Manges (Carrie), Jordan Simmons, Jess Simmons, Mack Thomas and Layla Claire Hester.  Mrs. Ritter also leaves behind three great-great grandchildren:  Marlee Manges, Paxton Manges and Levi Cash Manges.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday in the Chapel of Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, with burial following in the Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will begin at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church.
